You have 14 days from your arrival to register with the municipality.
From the law«Wer in einer Einwohnergemeinde Niederlassung (Hauptwohnsitz) oder Aufenthalt (Nebenwohnsitz) begründet, hat sich innert 14 Tagen anzumelden und die erforderlichen Dokumente zu hinterlegen.»

If you come to work, you must register in any case before starting work (art. 12 para. 1 FNIA).
Missing the registration costs a fine. Anyone who fails to register their arrival within the deadline breaches the obligation and is punished with a fine — and negligence is enough, the law does not require intent. (art. 120 para. 1 let. a LStrI)

«Wer vorsätzlich oder fahrlässig die Meldepflichten verletzt, wer die erforderlichen Dokumente nicht hinterlegt oder bei der An-, Um- oder Abmeldung die Auskunft verweigert oder unwahre Angaben macht, wird vom Friedensrichter mit Busse bestraft.»
